So we all know that the music scene is something bursting with creativity and talent here in the Boston area. This city houses Berklee College of Music and other fantastic music programs in its over 40 colleges so there is never a lack of talent here, weather it be learned from a university or naturally present. It's a unique area and today we need to celebrate the female talent we have here in the city both big and small!
Karmin
Karmin is comprised of quick-tongued Amy Heidermann and Nick Noonan who exploded from the Boston area back in early 2011 when the duo recorded a YouTube video covering Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now" and ever since the sky has been the limit. If you were lucky enough to see them at venues like The Hard Rock Cafe in Faneuil Hall or really anywhere (Amy studied here in Boston at Berklee so the duo were always preforming at small venues in the city) before they started to sell out major venues you know just how talented these two are. So talented that Rolling Stone put Amy on the cover of their recent "Women That Rock Issue". Their infectious Pop and Hip-Hop combination can be heard on their newest single "Hello". Unfortunately the duo won't be preforming in Boston anytime soon, but for any Western Mass or New York City residents they'll be in NYC on Oct. 15th and 16th. Either way you HAVE to download their album to hold you over. Its obviously available on iTunes and off of their website

Sarah Borrello
While we definitely have our success stories it is important to note the fast up and comers in the industry. A friend of mine over at Fleming Entertainment (a Boston based company that puts on concerts for local acts at venues all over the city, check their Facebook for shows every week!) works closely with the soon to be star and for good reason. She's started classical training at age 12, but discovered the world of Rock and never turned back. Describing herself as "loud, ferouscious and sexy" she has extremely powerful vocals and is constantly preforming in the Northeast. Recently, she reached her Kickstarter goal to record her first full length album, but for now catch her at these venues here in the city:
Friday Oct. 19th- Tommy Doyle's (Cambridge, MA)
Saturday Oct. 20th- The Rosebud (Somerville, MA)
Friday Nov. 16th- Davis Sq. Theatre (Somerville, MA)
And you're obviously curious about what you'll hear when you see her, and if you haven't already looked her up on Facebook and YouTube, I'll make it easy for you. Listen to one of here original songs, preformed live right now:
I know there's some i missed, have a recommendation? Let me know in the comments, on Facebook, or on twitter #MIA. Stay tuned for next week where we take a look at Boston's talented guys!
