Fashion Dupe Special - Boots
Do you follow all the latest trends only to find that your college budget doesn't cover all the cute designer pieces you would love to own? Well there's a little tactic out there that I'd like to pass on to our readers called cheating, or if you prefer, "duping" designer duds. How it works is this: big chains and some times small retailers want to get in on a trend, and the easiest way to do so is to create a similar product and make it enticing via lower prices. Some of these products are so close that it might be worth it for you to save 50% or more off the price of the designer version (so you have more money for other trends, or for, you know, eating...).Here are some of Fall's most stealable boots:
The Harness Boot:
I wouldn't even call this boot a trend. In reality the harness boot has been in fashion for years and years, beginning as a motorcyclist staple. Today though, the Frye harness boot in particular, is a must have among celebrities and fashionista diehards. Now, Frye 12R's (the most popular model) run for a cool $238, but here I'm going to show you some enticing alternatives:- Target.com harness boots in black and brown $59 each (1/4 the cost of the real deal). Often there are deals; buy one, get one 50% combined with free shipping on orders over 50, brings each boot down to $45 each. Thats about 1/5 the cost of the infamous Frye boots. To make the deal even sweeter, the reviews of the Target produced boots are outstanding (4.5 stars out of 5)! However, there is almost always a tradeoff in terms of quality and in this case, the leather feels a little thinner than Frye's top quality leather.

Leather Stacked Heel Ankle Boots:
Celebrities like Kiera Knightly and Rachel Weiss prefer the designer Acne for their black leather "Pistol" ankle boot, complete with a tassel zipper. But what is the girl to do who doesn't have $570?- Check out these similar boots at Charlotte Russe for only $35.50. Want them NOW? Right now Charlotte Russe is having a BOGO for $15.50! Combat Boots:
Combat boots have been popular over the last few years, but this year the boots are been updated with the use of hardware, such as studs. There is a great pair by Steve Madden for $189.95, but if you only have less than 20% of the necessary funds, why not check out this alternative boot?

Gracing Elle's most wanted boots of 2012 is a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti red knee-high suede boots. These 70's made-modern boots are beautiful, and of course they should be, for $1,250. That's why I was so excited when I saw this pair in Bakers!! Soft materials like velvet and suede are big right now, so go ahead and indulge in some luxurious materials at budget-friendly prices.

Alexander McQueen's winged leather ankle boots are timelessly cool. At debut they would have cost you $1,285, but today they are a few seasons old, so I've found them around the web for as low as $642.50. What? You don't have that? Ok ok, well maybe these will do ya...

If you want to rock the real deal grunge-inspired sensation, head on over to Urban Outfitters, who sell pretty much every color and pattern of Docs under the sun, ranging from $50 to $350. But you say that's over your budget?
